This is a 406 MHz emergency beacon. U.S. federal regulations require it to be registered with NOAA before use — and it is free.
Register online at beaconregistration.noaa.gov (fastest method). Registration links your beacon's unique ID to you, your vessel, and your emergency contacts, so the Coast Guard and search-and-rescue teams can respond faster if it is ever activated.
Registration is the owner's responsibility.
The Ocean Signal SafeSea EPIRB3 Pro Category 1 is a compact, full-featured 406 MHz global rescue beacon built around a float-free auto-release bracket. It integrates AIS technology to deliver precise, real-time position data to local rescuers, Return Link Service (RLS) to confirm distress signal receipt, and Near Field Communication (NFC) for smartphone-based battery and status monitoring via the free Ocean Signal Beacon Mobile App. No programming is required out of the box.
