Tenkara Rods

Tenkara rods are fixed-line fly rods built without guides or a reel seat, offered here as telescoping models in a range of lengths suited to tight mountain streams, freestone creeks, pocket water, and spring creeks. Lengths vary from compact packable options to longer rods for wider runs, and all collapse down small enough to carry in a daypack or rod tube. The tenkara system — rod, line, and fly, nothing more — keeps weight minimal and the approach simple, which makes these rods a practical choice for anglers hiking into backcountry water after trout. Collapsed sections protect the blank on the trail; extended, the rod delivers the reach and sensitivity that moving water requires.
