This is a 406 MHz emergency beacon. U.S. federal regulations require it to be registered with NOAA before use — and it is free.

Register online at beaconregistration.noaa.gov (fastest method). Registration links your beacon's unique ID to you, your vessel, and your emergency contacts, so the Coast Guard and search-and-rescue teams can respond faster if it is ever activated.

Registration is the owner's responsibility.

The Ocean Signal rescueME EPIRB2 Pro Cat I combines 406 MHz distress signaling, multi-constellation GNSS positioning, Return Link Service (RLS) confirmation, and Near Field Communication (NFC) smartphone connectivity into a compact, float-free Category I housing suited to both recreational and commercial vessels.

NFC Smartphone Connectivity

Holding a smartphone near the beacon automatically launches the Ocean Signal Product App via NFC and surfaces key operational data: current battery level, number of self-tests completed, number of GNSS tests completed, and total beacon activation time where applicable. Each individual self-test and GNSS test log is also accessible, with GNSS test records including a map of the test location, date and time, time-to-fix, satellite count used for the fix, and fix accuracy.

Cospas-Sarsat Global Coverage

Operating across the Cospas-Sarsat satellite network, the EPIRB2 Pro transmits a 406 MHz distress signal from anywhere on the globe. The transmission carries GNSS-derived coordinates accurate to within 100 meters, giving search-and-rescue teams precise location data immediately upon alert.

Return Link Service (RLS)

RLS uses the Galileo satellite network to send a confirmation signal back to the activated beacon, verifying that the distress message has been received and the beacon's position has been detected. Acknowledgment is indicated by a distinct flashing blue light on the unit, providing critical reassurance during an emergency.

Auto-Release Float-Free Bracket

The included Category I auto-release bracket is hydrostatic-release equipped, allowing the EPIRB2 Pro to float free and activate automatically if the vessel sinks — no manual intervention required.
