This freedom of movement keeps the line tracking cleanly over the roller tip rather than fraying sideways, eliminates sheared pin failures under extreme drag loads, and makes it easier to pull the rod from the holder mid-fight. The swivel torque is user-adjustable via two nylon drag washers and a half-inch stainless steel lock nut at the base.
