By allowing the rod tip to track the fish naturally, it reduces line fraying and the drag caused by line streaming sideways across the roller tip. Two nylon drag washers controlled by a ½" stainless steel lock nut at the base let you dial in exactly how much torque is required to rotate the swivel. When paired with straight-butt rods, the holder functions as a standard rod holder and can be manually rotated to keep the line on the tip roller. Sheared rod holder pins become a non-issue, and rod removal is simpler since the butt is never locked onto a rigid pin.
