The Furuno FM4800 is a compact marine VHF radiotelephone combining Class D DSC, a built-in GPS receiver, an AIS receiver, and a simplified loud hailer with intercom into a single unit. Its pigtail-cable design and multiple mounting options — desktop, overhead, or flush mount — make it practical for center-console boats and other space-limited vessels. The shared cosmetic profile with NavNet TZtouch2, NavPilot 711C, and the FI70 Instrument series keeps helm installations looking cohesive. Via NMEA2000, the FM4800 can push GPS, AIS, and DSC data to compatible MFDs, and when paired with a TZtouch2 running firmware v6.01 or later, DSC calls can be initiated directly by tapping an AIS/DSC target on the display. The loud hailer supports eight alert patterns, fog horn, and warning signals, and the Listen Back function lets the horn speaker pick up external sounds — useful on fishing vessels for hearing rod strikes or deck-to-bridge communication.
