By using a spring washer between the knob and the solid aluminum mount you do not have to worry about vibration loosening your equipment over time. The knurled knobs can never be separated from the mount due to the acorn nut which keeps the unit intact when it is not in use.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe mount is made from solid aircraft grade aluminum and provides a very clean yet functional look to the boat.
